The main chemical in the engine antifreeze is monoethylene glycol (MEG) which is highly corrosive at high temperatures. To prevent corrosion of metal body parts and engine cooling system, it is necessary to add to MEG some (between 5 to 8 wt.%) corrosion inhibitor with anti-foaming and anti-scale properties. Kimsan is the only official manufacturer of this product in Iran.
